Yeovil Football Club was founded in 1890, five years later they were renamed Yeovil Casuals and in 1907 the name Yeovil Town was adopted. They play at Huish Park and are nicknamed The Glovers or The Giant Killers – the latter a reference to their history as the most successful non-league team in the FA Cup.

The Giant Killers most famous victory came in 1949 when Yeovil beat Sunderland 2-1 in the FA Cup 4th Round. At that time Sunderland were known as “The Bank of England” due to the large amounts of money the club had spent, including the £20,500 signing of Len Shackleton, a British record transfer fee at the time.
