Hull City AFC was founded in 1904; the club plays at the KC Stadium having relocated from their old Boothferry Park ground in 2001. Hull City traditionally play in black and amber, often with a striped shirt design, hence their nickname The Tigers.
The Tigers greatest achievement came in the 2007–08 season when they were promoted to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history, by winning the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Hull’s best cup run came in 1930, when the team reached the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Hull City is one of only two professional teams (the other being Grimsby Town) which have had official permission to play league football on Christmas Day because of the demands of the local fishing industry.
